In today’s fast-paced world of innovation and disruption, we talk a lot about growth—scaling teams, expanding impact, launching the next big thing. But the truth is, no sustainable growth happens without discomfort. If you want to stretch into your potential, you have to be willing to stretch beyond what feels safe.
As someone who’s built her life around teaching transformational leadership and hosting retreats, I’ve come to believe that courage is the foundation of all true progress. It’s the cornerstone of my podcast, The Courage To Be, and it also happened to be the core theme in this week’s class with my clients. And what I witnessed there reminded me—yet again—that courage doesn’t just change the outcome. It changes us.
This week, I introduced a visual to my clients: a spiral. At the center of that spiral is desire. It always starts with something we long for—growth, a dream, an opportunity. From that desire, we make a decision. But what immediately follows that decision isn’t ease—it’s fear.
That’s where most people stop.
But for those willing to stay in the spiral, the next move is powerful: choosing faith over fear. When we lean into trust—trust in our vision, in our ability, in life itself—we’re able to step into courageous action.
And then? That’s where the magic begins. Courage leads to confidence. Confidence leads to clarity. And just like that, momentum is born.
This spiral doesn’t stop; it keeps expanding. A new desire emerges, a new decision, new fears—and the process begins again. But each cycle takes us to a new level of growth.
One client in our group shared something vulnerable. She had been avoiding a sales conversation for days. She kept procrastinating, telling herself it wasn’t the right time. But in our session, she recognized that what was truly holding her back was fear—fear of rejection, fear of criticism?
But she chose courage.
She made the call. Not only did she have a meaningful and authentic conversation, but she also closed the sale. More importantly, she felt expansive afterward. More capable. More confident. That’s the ripple effect of courage—it opens us up, not just to success, but to our own evolution.
Lesson 1: Courage Comes Before Confidence
We often wait to feel confident before taking the leap. But in reality, confidence is a result of courageous action, not a prerequisite. This is one of the biggest mindset shifts I teach.
Every meaningful success I’ve experienced—hosting my first event, launching my podcast, saying yes before the “how” was figured out—started with fear. But when I chose courage, everything else aligned. Courage is the first domino.
Lesson 2: Fear Isn’t the Enemy—Avoidance Is
Fear isn’t a flaw. It’s a natural part of growth. But when we avoid what we fear, we build a habit of playing small. The spiral I teach doesn’t eliminate fear—it honors it. It says: Yes, you’re scared. And yes, you’re still capable of choosing courage.
That shift—from fear to faith—is where your transformation begins.
Lesson 3: Comfort Will Cost You
Comfort is seductive. It tells you to wait, to stay safe, to be reasonable. But comfort zones are not where legacy is built. They’re where dreams go to die quietly.
The cost of staying comfortable isn’t just missed revenue or opportunities. It’s the erosion of self-trust. Every time you ignore that inner nudge, you teach yourself that your fear is more trustworthy than your desire.
Lesson 4: Courage is Contagious
In our community, when one person goes first—takes the leap, makes the call, says the thing—it shifts the dynamic for everyone. It raises the collective standard. That’s the power of group work. That’s why I built The Courage To Be—to create a space where brave stories inspire even braver actions.
When you share a moment of courage, you give someone else permission to do the same.
What Would Courage Do Right Now?
Whether you’re standing at the edge of a new offer, a difficult conversation, or an emerging desire—it always starts the same way: with a choice.
Desire. Decision. Fear. Faith. Courageous action. Confidence. Growth.
This spiral of becoming doesn’t end. It deepens. And each time you choose courage, you become more of who you truly are.

If you’re ready to step into your next level of leadership, of self-expression, of possibility—I invite you to start with courage. Everything else will meet you there.
And if you want a real-time dose of what this looks like in practice, this week’s episode of The Courage To Be unpacks it all. Listen in—and then ask yourself:
What would courage do right now?
To your success and abundance!
Tania
